Disneyland Vacation: Day 6: The Final Day!

Boy oh boy has this been a whirlwind trip. It's hard to believe we're home already because it feels like we just left. Today was a fun, albeit exhausting, end to our adventures. Since we got to bed so much later than all the other nights last night (I think we didn't get in until almost 10pm) we decided not to set the alarm this morning. It was a good thing, too, because the kids both had kind of a rough night, both waking up more than once. I finally just brought Kaylie into bed with us and she slept the rest of the night there. So none of us got out of bed until 8am, which was a nice slowing down of the pace. Last night I had packed up everything that I could and set it by the door, so that part wasn't too hard today. We had breakfast, finished packing up and loading the car, and then headed off the Disneyland for our last day. The kids were both pretty tired even after just waking up, so we knew we wouldn't be able to stay long.

Our last day! Excited and exhausted all at the same time.

The plan was to go to each "land" and focus on doing as many of Kaylie's favorites one more time in that land that we could before moving onto the next one, and then leaving at nap time or when the kids got too tired, whichever came first. Once we got there we were immediately glad that we had planned the bulk of our trip for earlier in the week. Being that it's a Friday it was probably twice as busy as it had been, meaning the lines were longer. So we didn't get quite as much in as we were hoping to, but still quite a bit. We managed to go on Casey Jr. (which oddly was run by a girl named Casey), the carousel (shock!) and Storybook Canal in Fantasyland. Drew was so tired already that as soon as we were done there and I put him back in the stroller to move on to the next thing he fell asleep. Immediately.

Last carousel ride.

She insisted that it was a merry-go-round, not a carousel. :)

Driving Mr. Toad's car.

Daddy and his babies.

On our way over to Tomorrowland Kaylie saw Sleeping Beauty and just had to wait in line to meet her. It was so cute because out of all the characters she's met, this was the first time she acted bashful when she went up to her. I guess meeting a "real" princess is pretty intimidating. :)

Sleeping Beauty

Once Kaylie got to meet Sleeping Beauty we went straight over to Autopia because Kaylie really wanted to drive the cars again. She wanted Phil to take her, so I sat in the shade with a sound asleep Drew and ended up chatting with a lady who was 55 years old and there with her family for her first visit to Disneyland ever. She had her little grandson with her who was two weeks older than Drew and he was pretty entertaining, too.

Stay off the sidewalks! Kaylie's behind the wheel!

Autopia.

Just too tired to stay awake.

After Autopia it was one more attempt at Astro Blasters. I think that this ride and Winnie the Pooh are tied for first place with Kaylie. She just couldn't get enough. Unfortunately not long after we got in line they announced that they'd had to shut down the ride and since we didn't have that much time and the kids were starting to fade already we decided we would skip it. It was a little disappointing, but we did go on that ride about ten times this week so I think we'll all survive.

We started walking to Critter County to go on Winnie the Pooh and discovered that the Enchanted Tiki room was reopened! It had been closed all week, but the calendar online didn't have it listed as closed for today so originally we thought we'd get to go once before we left. However when we got to the park this morning they looked and said it was still closed (I guess their system wasn't updated) so it was a very pleasant surprise to see that it was. We figured we'd make that our last stop before heading home.

Of course the kids loved going on Winnie the Pooh again. Drew's little catnap seemed to have perked him up a bit and he was really enjoying his last ride. Lastly we headed over to the Tiki Room. Kaylie was so tired and honestly if it weren't for the fact that it had been closed all week and we were about to leave we would have probably just skipped it. But I'm really glad we didn't. Kaylie and Drew *loved* the Tiki Room. They were fascinated by the whole thing and it was a really fun, relaxing way to end our time there.

Eating some oranges and waiting to go in the Tiki Room.

Hydrating.

In the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room!

On the way out of the park we stopped and fed the kids a little lunch. Kaylie has just had no appetite all week and we have been getting a little concerned at how little she's eaten. I'm sure it's because she hasn't been feeling well, but with how active we've been it's a little more important that she gets enough nutrition. We've actually forced the issue a couple of times, something we don't normally worry about doing.

It was time for us to make the walk back to the hotel parking garage and head home. We got the kids all loaded up and insisted that they nap before we'd turn on a movie for them. Drew fell asleep a few minutes after Kaylie, but he slept much better than she did. She woke up too early and cried and fussed, so we finally put on a movie and that seemed to help. We also stopped at Wendy's about an hour and a half into our drive so that Phil and I could eat (we hadn't had lunch when the kids did) and got Kaylie a frosty. That perked her up for a little while. It wasn't much in terms of a lunch, but at least she got something in her.

Crashed.

This drive was much less smooth than the drive down there, but that's not surprising. Kaylie had just hit a wall and was miserable for most of the ride, but couldn't seem to get more sleep. Drew fussed a little bit, but made Phil and laugh a lot because at some point he decided that instead of being mad he would just laugh at the whole thing. So he giggled and made funny faces and gave me flirty smiles for the last part of the drive. I kept Phil and I entertained by reading the second Hunger Games book to him all the way home. We'll see if I still have a voice tomorrow. :)

We got home around 9pm and got a punchily happy Drew and a falling apart, miserable Kaylie (who still had a low-grade fever, by the way) into the quickest baths ever and then straight to bed. Then Phil and I went to work unpacking 98% of the car, putting stuff away, and starting a load of laundry before we both took showers and got in our jammies.

It's so nice to be home, but there's always that nostalgic, bittersweetness to coming home after a wonderful trip. We had such an amazing time sharing a fun, magical place with our kids. They were incredible. So well behaved and sweet, and in spite of the bumps in the road with Kaylie getting sick, it is obvious they both had a great time. I just love my family so much I almost get choked up thinking about it right now. Tomorrow will be a day of rest and recouping (before we go to Alicia and Justin's for a Mother's Day BBQ, of course). Nothing responsible if we can help it and lots of time just enjoying being home. I can't wait until the next time we get to go on a trip as a family! Phil and the kids sure are a fun bunch of people to travel with!

Disneyland Vacation: Day 5

Okay so lets just start off with last night. When we got back from a slightly disappointing day at California Adventure, we noticed that Kaylie felt really warm. Of course I didn't pack a thermometer (who would have thought we'd need it?) so we couldn't take her temperature. We actually started getting really concerned about the possibility of heat stroke because we weren't sure if she'd gotten enough water (even thought we'd been pushing it on her more) and she had been in the hot sun all day. After a very annoying call with the least helpful pediatrician ever, we figured it wasn't a heat related thing and was probably just a fever. I made an 11:30pm trip to Walmart to get a thermometer and children's Tylenol (Phil gave her a lukewarm bath while I was gone) and when I got back we discovered that, sure enough, she did have a slight fever. Major bummer. We figured we'd see what happened in the morning before we decided what to do and prayed that she'd wake up completely fine.

This morning we took her temperature and she had just a low grade fever, nothing major. So we decided to be bad citizens and take her with us to Disneyland anyway, just so long as she wasn't feeling bad. This was our last full day at the park and the day that Blen was joining us and we just didn't want Kaylie to miss out on the fun. After a dose of Tylenol her temperature was completely normal and she was acting like herself, so off to the park we went!

When we got there we saw Donald and Daisy Duck meeting people in the main square, but we barely missed them before they left for a break. Kaylie was devastated, so we promised her we'd come back when they were supposed to return at 10am. So the first thing we did this morning was go on the Winnie the Pooh ride, something we had not done yet. There was no line so we got right in and both kids *loved* it! When we were about to get out Kaylie said she wanted to do it again and, since there was hardly anyone waiting, the guy let us stay on the ride and go straight back through again.

Feeling optimistic that today will go better than yesterday.

Getting ready to go on Winnie the Pooh for the first time. She was so excited!

After Winnie the Pooh we rushed over to the main square again to wait the few minutes left before Donald and Daisy came back out. At that point we met up with Blen, who had been delayed a little bit by the train and getting her season pass picture taken. Blen was pretty on it about watching for the characters and managed to get Kaylie a high five with Pluto while we waited. After a few minutes Donald and Daisy came back out and we got a chance to meet them and get a picture. Kaylie has loved getting to meet the characters, and since the lines haven't been long we've really enjoyed doing that with her.

Aunt Blennie's here!!!

Meeting Donald and Daisy Duck.

Our next stop was Alice and Wonderland and then Astro Blasters. With a couple of exceptions we've been doing a lot of repeat rides today because we've seen practically everything there is to see. Of course we had to go on Small World again, too, which is always a favorite with the kids. Kaylie really enjoyed getting to sit with her Aunt Blennie on all of the rides. Drew got a little snuggle time in with her, too, but mostly he just wanted Daddy, or to walk around and hit plants. Haha.

We ended up getting him one of these as his souvenier. He laughs and hugs it tight when it vibrates.

When she really wants to emphasize her enthusiasm in pointing, she points next to her face.

Snuggle time with Blen.

Small World fun!

About the time we got off of Small World Kaylie was starting to act a little off, so Phil decided he'd take her on the Gadget Coaster in Toon Town (which was right next door) and then go back to the hotel for a nap. She was just a little taller than the height requirement, so Phil, Blen, and Kaylie got in line. While they were waiting to get on the ride I took Drew next door to Mickey's house. This time he wasn't as interested in walking around. I put him in the arm chair in the front room to take a picture and then all he wanted to do was stand in that. Finally I moved him over to the couch since there was room for me to sit next to him and he stood there and laughed and talked and played around for awhile. Then he and I went back just in time to see the others ride the roller coaster. Kaylie had pretty much hit her limit, so while she enjoyed the ride, she was done at that point.

Tall enough for her last right, but not so sure she's up for it.

Drew as king of Mickey's house.

Finishing up Gadget's Go Coaster.

We decided that we would take turns staying with the kids at the hotel while they napped so that we could each have a little grown-up time with Blen and go on a few rides we wouldn't otherwise have gotten to do. Phil took the first shift and got the kids back to the hotel and down for naps. Kaylie slept for a little while and then woke up with bad dreams and it took quite awhile for Phil to get her back to sleep. Drew slept really soundly for almost a normal length of time.

Blen and I didn't have a ton of time on our own, so we used our Fast Passes to go on Star Tours. They've completely redone it since the last time I was there, and since it's my favorite ride I was a little nervous that I wouldn't like it. I did miss the nostalgia of the old ride, the little robot who drove the shuttle, and the cheesy 80's hair and clothes on the people in the videos. But it actually was pretty awesome. It's 3D now (what isn't?) and the action was really fun. I was glad we made it on that.

After that I only had time for one more ride before we were at the halfway point for naps and I had to walk back to the hotel, so we went over to Indiana Jones. The wait was about 30 minutes for that one, but Blen and I enjoyed just chatting during the times we waited. There were three teenage girls behind us and they were fine until we got inside the building where you wait in line. Then they started screaming randomly. Blen and I were done with that pretty quickly and finally I told her that if they did it again I was going to get in mommy mode and tell them quit it. They did it again. So I turned around nicely but sternly and said, "Can you please not scream? It's way too loud in here." They looked at me like I was a jerk, but didn't say anything. A few minutes later, when we were about to go down the stairs and go the last few feet to get on the ride, they screamed again. It was obvious they were doing it just to be annoying. So Blen stopped at the top of the stairs, leaving a huge gap between us and the people in front of us, and just stared them down for a minute. Hahahaha. It made me laugh. They behaved after that. :) Indiana Jones was super fun and once it was over it was time for me to head back to the hotel so Phil could have a turn.

I left Blen there so she could get some lunch and shop for hats and I started the 15 minute-ish walk back to the hotel. When I got back Phil had not long before that gotten Kaylie back to sleep, but of course Drew was wide awake now.  I ran down to the car before Phil left and got Drew's toys out that we had brought for the drive. He was in *such* and good mood, laughing and talking and playing around. He pretty much sat on our bed and played with his toys and ate a snack the whole rest of the time we were there. It was nice to relax with him for a bit and I think he liked the down time.

He was in *such* a good mood after his nap. He was cracking us up.

Poor, sweet sickie.

This is pretty much what he did the whole rest of the time Kaylie slept.

A little before 3pm Kaylie woke up. She didn't have a fever anymore, but she was acting really fussy, so I decided to wait before we attempted to go back to the park. I got her settled on our bed and turned on Cartoon Network (yuck) and she relaxed and watched truly terrible cartoons for almost an hour. Finally I turned off the TV and asked if she wanted to go back to see Daddy and Blen and get some popcorn. (She had been eyeing the popcorn there all week and yesterday we promised she could have it as a snack today.) She said yes, and was acting like she felt much better. I gave her another dose of Tylenol for good measure and we headed back over.

The contrast in their expressions cracks me up.

Playing peekaboo with himself. :)

When we got back Phil and Blen were almost to the front of the line at Splash Mountain, but he texted me that he'd seen Winnie the Pooh taking pictures over by the Pooh ride. We grabbed some popcorn (which Kaylie happily ate three bites of and then declared herself to be done) and rushed over there and hit the jackpot! Pooh, Tigger, *and* Eeyore were all there and there was one line to see all of them. When we were almost to the front the characters took a  five minute break and Eeyore didn't come back, but Kaylie was thrilled to see Pooh and Tigger. Tigger in particular was fun. He took Kaylie's Pluto doll (which I let her bring with her this time) and played with it for a minute before he took a picture with her.

Feeling much better and eating the popcorn she'd been craving all week.

Tigger!

Pooh!

Awkward pose for Mommy. :)

About the time we were done with the characters Phil and Blen were back (They were able to go on Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, Star Tours, and Splash Mountain while we were finishing up rest time. Phil also amused himself by handing Blen a new Disneyland map every time they got off a ride and telling her he found it somewhere on that ride. He then pulled Kaylie in on the joke for the rest of the evening.) and we decided to go on the Winnie the Pooh ride one more time since we were right there. Drew sat on the ride the whole time with his finger ready to point at things. I love when he does that.

Next we went on Pirates again and Kaylie chattered away and sang the whole time. She was feeling so good at this point and was having a wonderful time. She's definitely not the least bit scared of that ride anymore. Phil said that he wants to teach our kids something that his dad taught him: If something is scary or hard, do it again. I'm really grateful to him for that because it allows for opportunities like this where she gets to get a lot of enjoyment out of something that scared her at first. Once again, Drew fell asleep on the ride. It made us all laugh. That ride is just an irresistible place for napping it would seem.

Walking to Pirates. She was fascinated by her own feet.

And, once again, Pirates ceases to impress Andrew.

At the end of the ride.

We made another stop at Peter Pan and then Alice and Wonderland after that, and then it was about time for a late dinner. Jeff was meeting us at the park after work and we had arranged to have dinner with him. Bob and Norma very generously offered to treat us all tonight, so we got to go the the Big Thunder Ranch BBQ, someplace we wouldn't have gotten to go otherwise. The food was *really* yummy and they had a group playing music while we ate. We all had a great time sitting around and chatting, enjoying good food and a fun atmosphere. Kaylie was starting to fade (still no real fever) and didn't eat a thing, but she ended up dosing off in the front seat of the stroller while we ate. Drew, on the other hand, was quite the cut up. He stuffed his face with two gigantic pieces of corn bread, some coleslaw, and a little bit of chicken and was laughing like crazy at Uncle Jeff's antics, and his own of course. When we were all finished eating the waitress came and took our plates and Blen said, "Drew she took your cornbread," and he immediately whipped his head around a watched the waitress walk away. We all got a good laugh out of that.

Making her daily attempt to pull the sword from the stone.

The entertainment at dinner.

Such a fun, and *really* yummy, dinner!

Asleep in the stroller.

Making everyone laugh.

Kaylie woke up about the time we were done and, since it was after 8pm we decided we should probably head out. But she asked if we could go on Astro Blasters one more time, so we agreed. She was really out of it the whole wait and I kept asking if she was sure wanted to do it and she insisted. So we did and it was a fun end to the day.

She insisted she wanted to do it one last time, but looked about like this the whole time.

The future bride and groom.

On the way out of the park we stopped in the Emporium to get Drew his souvenir and a little Peter Pan action figure set for Kaylie's birthday (shh!) in a couple of weeks. We got Drew the stuffed alien from Toy Story that talks and vibrates. He thought it was very funny, and played with it for awhile before we left. After our short shopping trip we said our goodbyes to Blen and Jeff and walked back to the hotel.

Drew was sound asleep by the time we got back and Kaylie was a little more talkative by then. We got them both right in bed and Drew took forever to settle back down and go to sleep. Once they were down Phil went to bed and I took some time to pack everything I could so that checkout would be easy tomorrow. The only stuff left to do is put away things we'll be using in the morning.

The plan tomorrow is to pack up the car, check out, and then go back to the park for a couple hours and do our favorite things one more time before we head out on the long drive home.

We had a wonderful day today! Kaylie had about three hours in the middle there, which was pretty much just before and during naptime, where she wasn't quite herself, but otherwise she was wonderful. She's such a little trouper and really had a great time showing Blen the ropes at Disneyland. It was a lot of fun to have Blen with us today and Jeff with us in the evening, and great to get a little adult time in there, too. We were really nervous that today was going to be another rough day, but it ended up being fantastic. We're very grateful God gave us a happy girl for most of the day, and that He gave us our goofy little class-clown of a boy to keep us entertained. And now I'm going to bed. I'm tired. :) Until tomorrow!

Disneyland Vacation: Day 4

Well I feel like I have to start off by saying that this was definitely our least favorite day so far. There were, of course, lots of fun times, but overall it was a pretty rocky day. There were two factors that contributed to this. First, California Adventure isn't our favorite. We really mostly went there because lots of people have told us that they've added a lot of great stuff for kids since the last time we were there. And they have, that's true. But the problem is that everything is so spread apart that we spent a ridiculous amount of time walking to and from our destinations. And it seems like they hire the B-list employees over there. Like you start working at California Adventure and then if you make the cut you get to move up to Disneyland. Everything was slower, there were lots more lines (even though there were much less people), and the employees just weren't in character like they are at Disneyland. It's an acting job working there. Even if you aren't feeling in the best mood, you play the part and act like you're having as much fun as the people visiting. The employees here didn't do that. That was problem number one. Second, Kaylie pretty much hit the wall today. After three later-than-normal nights in a row and two jam packed days, she was just over tired. So she wasn't really herself all day and that made it harder for Phil and I to enjoy ourselves, too. She wasn't being bratty, just tired and miserable. Okay those were the two negatives. Here's the rest of our day:

We got to have a little more relaxing morning because California Adventure doesn't open until 10am, so we didn't have to rush as much. And that part was really nice. This morning Kaylie decided she wanted to be Cinderella, so I got her dressed in her pretty dress and did her hair up in a cute little bun, just like Cinderella's. She looked adorable and was very proud of her outfit. She got lots of compliments the whole time she wore it.

Our little Cinderella.

Since we had a little more time before the park opened, we decided to stop in the shop at Downtown Disney again to let the kids browse. Once again Kaylie landed on the Pluto doll. She was more disappointed this time when we left him behind and gave him a sweet hug and kiss before she put him back. After that we were pretty confident that he would be who we were going to end up taking home with us.

Phil and the Chewbacca backpack.

She just loves him.

The first thing we did when we got to the park was the Ariel ride. "The Little Mermaid" is probably my favorite Disney movie, due in large part to how awesome the music is, so I just loved the ride. It was colorful and fun and really well done. Drew sat with me in our little seashell car and he just looked and looked at everything. He seemed to really enjoy it. When we got to the part where we were entering Ursula's cave one of her pet eels was overhead and talking and Drew thought it was really funny. Kaylie said she liked the ride but that it was a little scary. I think that reaction was due to the fact that she was already starting to get tired.

When you're entering the midway area they have a zeppelin ride that Kaylie wanted to go on. There was no way in the world that I was going to get anywhere near that thing because the zeppelins fly way out and around in circles. But Kaylie was excited to go on it with Phil so they did that on their own. She loved it. Drew and I were content to stay on solid ground and watch. We wanted to take her on a few more of the other midway rides, but she was a few inches too short for pretty much all of them.

Getting ready to ride the Zeppelin.

On the Zeppelin!

On our way through the park to find something else to do we got to see Goofy. The lines for the characters we've seen  have been short enough at both parks that it's only taken about five minutes to get to them, so of course we let Kaylie meet him and we took a picture.

Meeting Goofy.

We were heading over to the Bug's Life area, which we'd heard great things about, but got sidetracked when we saw that they had a new Toy Story 4D ride. Even though the line looked long we decided to try it out since we were right there. We ended up waiting 45 minutes for the ride and this was the point when both kids started melting down. Drew had a dirty diaper, but we couldn't find anywhere to step aside and change him, and we couldn't find anywhere to exit the line. Both of them seemed really tired and took turns crying and wanting to be held constantly. After waiting that long we got up to the front and the two people in front of us told the employees that this big group of like seven more people who were standing outside the line where with them. And the employees just let them on! We were joking with the family behind us that we should pair up with them for the day and take turns waiting in lines and then letting each other jump in when we get to the front, since apparently you're allowed to do that. By the time we finally got on the ride Phil and I really had to turn up the enthusiasm to make sure the kids had fun. The ride is basically a 3D (I don't get the difference between 3D and 4D) midway game where you shoot things and earn points. Even though Kaylie couldn't shoot anything to save her life she seemed to have fun, but just wasn't as enthusiastic as I know she would normally have been. Drew and Phil had a great time on it and Drew even tried to shoot a little bit.

Mr. Potato Head was talking and cracking jokes while we waited in line.

Drew was falling asleep while we waited in line for Toy Story.

Ready to shoot stuff in 4D!

On our travels Kaylie spotted King Triton's Carousel and, of course, just had to ride it. She sat on a goldfish and really had fun on that one. It makes me laugh how much she loves carousels now because for the longest time she was terrified of them. After we left there we saw Mickey Mouse dressed like a ship captain and Kaylie got to give him a hug and get her picture taken.

Silly little man.

King Triton's Carousel.

Captain Mickey

Finally we made it over to the Bug's Life area. We had decided early on that we were going to avoid the spray ground part of it until after naps so that they wouldn't go back to the hotel wet, but Kaylie was just miserable at this point and they were both fading so fast that we thought the water would be a nice pick me up. We got them in their bathing suits and let them go to town. They had an absolute ball! Both of them grinned and ran around and Kaylie screamed and screamed. At one point after they'd been having fun awhile I looked at Drew who was wandering around in the middle of a pretty heavily sprayed area and he was starting to cry, clearly unable to figure out how to escape. I laughed and looked away for a second, only to look back and see him laying on his back where he seemed to have fallen, just in time for a big stream of water to come pouring down on his middle. I ran out there immediately and scooped him up, getting soaked in the meantime, and managed to get him calm pretty quickly. He didn't get back in the water too much after that, but was very happy to wander around for a little while.

Yelling at the water. Haha.

I love this because her face is just pure joy.

A very unhappy Andoo after he fell and got attacked by water.

We had talked about getting ice cream after the spray area and tried to lure Kaylie out of the water with that suggestion, but she just wasn't done. We let her go a few more minutes, but then decided that it was getting close enough to nap time that we really should get them dried off. She was devastated and we tried to cheer her up with thoughts of ice cream but even that didn't work, so we decided to just go right back to the hotel. She was even more upset about the fact that we were then skipping the ice cream, so Phil ended up carrying her back to the hotel because she was crying so much. Both kids had fallen asleep by the time we got back. We got them right down to bed and were hopeful that after some sleep Kaylie would be feeling better.

Sound asleep by the time we got back.

Phil tried to get Drew to rest a little longer after he woke up early. It didn't last long.

Not so much. She only slept for an hour, as did Drew, and even after we tried to get both of them to go back to sleep, or at least just lay still and rest, it didn't really work. So we thought, well we'll go back to California Adventure and get some ice cream and go to the Bug's Life thing to do all the fun stuff we hadn't gotten to yet and maybe that would help her perk up.

When we got back into the park Kaylie wanted to ride on the carousel *again* and she enjoyed it, but not as much as usual. It took us forever to track down the only ice cream parlor in the park (which didn't even serve real scooped ice cream, just swirly frozen yogurt stuff) and waited in line for a half an hour before we got some. We stopped in a shady area to eat our ice cream and let Drew walk around for a little bit. Kaylie did perk up after that for awhile. I think it was mostly from sugar, but at least she was smiling and having fun. It was nice to have her back for a bit.

Getting ice cream!

Phil imitating Drew's walk. He said that if Drew was in a horror movie his role would be "Zombie With Good Posture".

Chowing down. Yes, she ate all of it, sans cone.

He shared Mommy's ice cream and Daddy's root beer float. He's not a fan of root beer.

Once again our Bug's Life plan got changed because Kaylie wanted to go to the Monster's Inc. ride first. That's Phil's favorite Disney movie, so he was very happy to oblige. Both kids loved that ride and after it was over Kaylie asked to do it again. Since the line wasn't long we went ahead and did it a second time.

My little charmer.

Going on Monster's Inc.

Right next to Monster's Inc. is the Muppets 3D Movie, so we went in there next. That was really fun. Drew didn't love it and got pretty restless, but Phil and I always enjoy the Muppets humor and it was really entertaining to watch Kaylie try to reach out and touch the little 3D stuff that was right in her face. She really liked that and was in a pretty good mood when we left.

Rockin' the 3D glasses.

But not long after we left the theater she crashed again. She was fussy and miserable and not my sweet Kaylie. We made the decision to track down some dinner and then go see the Bug's Life rides really quickly, and the Crush the sea turtle interactive thing my parents had raved about and then go ahead and head back to the hotel and get them to bed on time. That plan did not work.

It took awhile to find a place that didn't have gross sounding food and we finally landed on a pizza and pasta place. Kaylie was crying the whole time we got food and the whole time we ate. (Not sobbing, mind you, but still.) We were really worried about her because she'd barely eaten or drank anything all day, in spite of our best efforts, so Phil pushed the issue and made her drink more water and eat some of her dinner. We decided right then that this was going to be the end of our evening. It's too bad, too, because Drew had perked up quite a bit at dinner and was laughing and being quite the jokester, and I had really wanted to stay for the World of Color. But Kaylie couldn't stop crying so we had to be done.

As we were walking out of the park Phil suggested that we go ahead and get her the Pluto then since it was obvious that's what she really wanted for her souvenir, and he was hoping that it would make her feel a little  better. I spotted a shop that had it so I went in and got it for her. She hugged it right away when I gave it to her, but when I asked her if that made her feel better she said, "No. I want Monkey." Hahaha. (Monkey stayed at the hotel this week because I just knew we'd lose him if he came.) Since Kaylie was so out of it Phil put her in the reclining front seat of the stroller and Drew sat on the jump-seat. He looked so grown up sitting there and we played peekaboo with him on the way back, which was fun. By the time we were out of the park Kaylie was sound asleep snuggling her Pluto.

My big guy in the jump-seat. He fell asleep sitting straight up for a couple of minutes.

And she's out.

We got back to the hotel and had them both in bed by 8pm and they fell asleep immediately. We're hoping that since we got them to bed on time that they'll sleep really well (maybe even a little later tomorrow) and be ready for our last full day. Especially since Blen is coming with us tomorrow and we'll be back in the real Disneyland. We're excited to start fresh tomorrow after a good nights sleep. Here's hoping our big girl will be back to her sweet, silly, fun self in the morning. Until tomorrow!
