Bathtub Paint

It's been awhile since I've blogged about my crafting experiences. It's not that I haven't done anything since January, because I have (I made felt flowers with my MOPS group and on my own, and also made Kaylie a hair bow at Heart2Heart), but just because I got lazy. So I've finally jumped back on the craft-blogging bandwagon and I have a new craft to share. Once again, I got this idea from Pinterest and thought it looked simple enough to try. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you, bathtub paint!

What You Need:

*Shaving cream
*Food coloring
*Paint brush
*Cupcake tin

Fill each space in the cupcake tin with shaving cream and add the food coloring to create whatever colors you want. (Make sure to stir it up really well or you'll end up with a lot of plain white shaving cream at the bottom.) Put kid in the bathtub with the cupcake tin and a paintbrush and let them go to town!

Tips:
There's one big tip for this craft and that's to watch little babies with it. Andrew loved it, but he *really* wanted to just eat it and since I'm pretty sure shaving cream is not safe to eat, it caused a little bit of a problem. Phil finally just put him in the bath seat to keep him from making a meal out of the paint. The only other thing is that I would refrain from actually washing them up until right before getting them out of the bath. Kaylie was so covered in colored shaving cream that it wouldn't have been a good idea to get her straight out.

The Verdict:
This craft was definitely a winner! Kaylie went from flipping out because she didn't want to take a bath, to being in there forty-five minutes and practically having to be dragged out because she was having so much fun. Phil hollered at me from the bathroom, "Put this one down in your blog as a successful craft!" If that's not a positive verdict, I don't know what is. We'll definitely be doing this again.

P.S. The gross dingy color of the bathwater is from the colors mixing, not because our bathtub is dirty. Just felt the need to clarify that. :)

(Not sure what's up with the way this picture uploaded, but this is what the final piece of artwork looked like.)

Footnote: Okay so here's the deal. I would wash the food coloring off right away to avoid the risk of staining the tile. It looks like it may have stained the grout in a couple of places, but I think if use actually tub cleaner instead of just water it'll come out fine. Stay tuned....
